This Privacy Policy explains how Online Protractor, owned and maintained by Tyr, collects, uses, and protects information. The measuring workspace can be used without an account. Optional analytics, Google sign-in, contact, and payment features involve the limited processing described below.
Information We Collect
You can use the Free measuring workflow without an account. Uploaded images, measurements, automatic workspace recovery data and named projects remain in IndexedDB or other local browser storage on your device. Umami analytics loads automatically on site visits, and Google Analytics 4 also loads when a measurement ID is configured; these services may process page URLs, referrer information, device and browser information, approximate region, interaction events and online identifiers. If you sign in with Google, we store your name, email address, Google account ID and profile image when supplied. For plan purchases, we retain entitlement status and limited payment metadata such as order or checkout reference, product, amount, currency and refund status. We never receive or store full payment card numbers.
How We Use Your Information
We use information to operate the service, maintain existing account records, prevent abuse, and answer support requests. If you contact us, we use your address and message to respond and improve the tool. Umami and, when configured, Google Analytics 4 help us understand aggregate usage and technical performance. We do not sell personal information or use it for unrelated marketing. Your measurement workspace remains on your device.
Data Storage and Security
Measurement data, uploaded images, automatic workspace recovery and named projects are stored locally in your browser, primarily using IndexedDB, until you clear site data. Language and theme may use other browser storage. Account entitlement and limited payment metadata remain in the service database for access restoration, support, refunds, dispute handling and recordkeeping. We use HTTPS, but no transmission or storage method is perfectly secure. Exported work is saved directly to your device. Local projects do not sync across devices.
Cookies and Tracking
Essential browser storage remembers language, theme, and the local measurement workspace. The site does not currently display a custom analytics preference banner or apply an analytics consent gate, so Umami loads automatically and Google Analytics 4 loads automatically when configured. Google AdSense Auto ads may load for Free visitors, and Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or other identifiers under Google's advertising policies. Plus and Pro members do not load the Google advertising script. Where required, advertising consent must be collected through a Google-certified consent management platform configured for the applicable region before personalized advertising is served.
Third-Party Services
Third-party services currently used are Google OAuth for optional sign-in, Google AdSense for advertising to Free visitors, Creem as Merchant of Record for checkout, tax, invoices, payment confirmation, refunds and disputes, Resend for delivering contact-form email, Umami and Google Analytics 4 for site analytics, and the site's hosting and database providers. Each provider processes the data needed for its service under its own terms. Adsterra and other advertising networks are not loaded. Uploaded measurement images and local projects are processed in your browser and are not sent to an image-processing or project-sync provider. We do not sell personal information.
Your Rights and Choices
The site does not currently provide an analytics preference control. You can use browser privacy or content-blocking controls and clear browser storage for local workspace data. You may request access, correction, export, deletion, or an analytics-related privacy review by emailing [email protected]. Depending on your location, additional rights may include restriction, objection, portability, or complaint to a data protection authority.
Children's Privacy
Online Protractor is a general-audience tool and is not directed primarily to children under 13. The measuring workspace does not require registration. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not use measurement activity to build advertising profiles. A child should not use optional sign-in, contact, or purchase features without permission from a parent or guardian. Contact us if you believe a child supplied personal information so it can be reviewed and deleted.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new 'Last Updated' date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we may provide additional notice on our website.
